Description |
From David Moses Bridges: Short, cylindrical birch bark box with lid; etched designs include floral pattern on box, smoking rabbit with wave border on lid. Single piece body construction of 37.4 x 13.5 cm lashed with an offset zigzag over a 3.5 cm overlap. Bottom is double-layered lashed to sides by a 5 strand step stitch. Bark rim support is topped with scarphed rattan, lashed with four lashings of three strands each. Cover rim is one pice, 49 x 4 cm with 7.7 cm overlap, lashed with a single X stitch. Top is double-layered with 5-strand stepped stitch. According to DMB: "Alot of inspiration from Tomah Joseph here. That's second growth bark on the inside top and bottom."
